- Maj Gen AP Bam, Sena Medal, Vishist Seva Medal (Retd) is an alumni of the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Deheradun.. He was commissioned into the Regt of Artillery on 07 Jun 1980. He has had the proud privilege to have taken part in all the operations and wars the recent times i.e from OP PAWAN (Shri Lanka) to OP VIJAY(Kargil). He has wide exposure in all types of terrain and all kinds of operations.
- During his 38 years of illustrious service, Maj Gen AP Bam has held various important Instructional, Staff and Command assignments. He has been an instructor in the School of Arty, Head of Faculty at College of Defence Management (CDM) Secunderabad, Director in the Financial Planning Directorate and Assistant Quarter Master General of a corps HQ. He commanded his Regiment and the Brigade in High Altitude Area in the Famous Kargil Sector.. He thereafter commanded the prestigious Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh (Independent) Sub Area at Ambala. He was MG GS (SD&WE), HQ Eastern Command. The officer has been confirmed with prestigious awards of the Sena Medal (SM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for his exemplary and distinguished service. The General officer is also recipient of coveted Commendation Medal for extreme devotion to duty by the Chief of Army and also Vice Chief of Army.
- He is an expert on the famous Bofors Gun and was an exclusive instructor on the gun system at the world famous School of Artillery at Deolali. He has travelled widely and was an observer for the UN mission in ethopia and eritriya.
- Maj Gen AP Bam was the of Managing Director of Ex Service Men Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), a flagship venture for the retired personnel from the Indian Armed Forces. The scheme aims at providing quality Medicare to all the veterans and their dependents and has its reach across the length and breadth of the country and Nepal as well. General Bam has been an extremely forthright, honest and a dashing officer who excelled in all courses of instructions and is a highly acclaimed professional. He has been the pioneer in a large number of changes in the Indian Army.
- The General officer was the Commandant of Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee prior to his retirement. The Academy trains and commissions Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) who are carrying out outstanding duty in various Schools and Colleges, all over the nation.
- He is a defense analyst and expert on various strategy related subjects. He regularly conducts seminars on defense related subjects and is an eminent motivational speaker. An expert in “Organizational Behavior” who regularly comments on strategic affairs of the world. He is a trustee member of CP & Berar education society and a honorary Managing Director of Madhav Netralaya.
- The General is married to Dr (Mrs) Ila Bam who is a Dental Surgeon. She is an eminent educationist who has always worked for the welfare of the families of all ranks.She has been responsible for up – liftment of War widows . Anil & Ila are proud parents of a Daughter (M Tech, B’Ed) married to an Army Offr and a Son (BE (Mech)) who after doing MBA from Alliance University School of Business, Bangalore is working with an MNC
